Sugar-Talk Goes to Diet, Insulin Conversations to the Bowel-Liver Axis

Majid Ali, M.D.

In metabolic considerations, conversations about the bowel-liver axis are far more important than sugar talk. Both my paternal grandfather and maternal grandmother lived 101 years. I never heard any sugar-talk from them. I did hear them talk about the bowel, which I learned decades later is the guardian angel of the liver.

The main reasons for the leapfrogging incidences of obesity, diabetes type 1 and 2 among children is fermentation of the bowel-liver axis. Such fermentation causes insulin toxicity which creates sugar and carb craving.

So, the message of this brief article is: Beware of sugar-talk and be aware of the benefits of insulin conversations.
